An Economic Meltdown Is A War

The economy wanders up and down, at it’s own whim, at it’s own pace, in it’s own good time with utter disregard for it’s effect on people. There used to be a saying, something about when the economy went bad that if your neighbor had lost his job, we were in a recession, and if you lost yours, we were in a depression. Anyone who lost his or her job however, was unable to know, or care which was which. In reality this made no difference, for an economic meltdown is a war, and a global economic crisis is just a bigger one.

Theories of what started the “economic meltdown” in 1929, is just a lot of finger pointing now, years later with too few people still alive that lived through those years. Moreover, of that elite group there are too many who have opinions based on thin air, thin memories, and thinner technical knowledge to allow for a creditable point of view. Today, however, right in the middle of the global economic crisis, we can see, hear, and trust our judgments to a far greater level. The recession is a war… It looks like a war… people are dying (of starvation not gunfire), people are not employed (the plants are closed for economic reasons, not bomb damage) and the same people at the top are still making the decisions that destroy the lives of those at the bottom. We can see, and know, the people who are smashing our lives while they stay fat, dumb, and happy in Washington DC, Wall Street or in a million places in our business districts and neighborhoods.

So we know who, we know why (greed and/or power) but we have no ability, none, zilch, nada, to do a thing about it EXCEPT….vote. Stop talking and listen! Listen to everyone, decide based on what he or she say and what they have done. Decide for yourself, not on what someone tells you to decide. You have the chance, and the sophistication that your parents and your grandparents did not have 83 years ago. The people who have caused our grief, our economic meltdown can reverse it if they will, if you tell them to. It took WWII to end the big depression. WWIII (a war of votes, the people‘s votes, against our tormentors,) can end our recession, this economic meltdown.
