Preparing For A Job Interview
April 23rd, 2010
A skillful employee is a profit source for any company.
Every employer is looking not only for a qualified specialist but also for an employee who is willing to work hard and associate with a team.
Today, there are so many good candidates for the same job that sometimes it is extremely difficult for the candidate to stand out among the others. It’s also hard for the employer to understand which of the applicants meets his demands.
If you are preparing for an important job interview, you should know some basics that will help you make a good impression.
Here are some basic questions that you will be asked at any interview:
- “Tell me something about you.” When you are asked this, you should manage to give a two or three minute answer and describe your goals. Don’t talk much about your hobbies or other things you like to do. Better concentrate on job-related topics.
- “Why should I hire you?” Answer this question in a confident manner. Show your potential future employer that you have all the qualities of a person who is ready to work hard under the tightest deadlines. If necessary, talk about your previous job (if you had one), introducing the work you did there as a great profit source.
- “Did you have any conflicts with your boss at your previous job?” The “no” answer is not the best one in this case. Let your answer be more broad. If you had problems, don’t hide them. Give an answer like: “We had some minor problems, but we managed to understand each other and solve them.” An answer like this will be great as it will show your abilities at coming to compromises and finding solutions.
- Be ready to answer weird questions, too. For instance, don’t be surprised if you are asked, “Who is your favorite hero?” or “What is your favorite movie?” Remember that the interviewer wants to see how you act and what answers you give in unpredictable situations. So smile, take a deep breath and concentrate. It will be better if you manage to turn the question into a job-related topic.
- If you are asked a question like: “What qualities should a successful manager have?” do not start listing many. Concentrate on two or three (for example, best ways to save money) and explain. Your answers should be short and precise.
And certainly, don’t forget to get a good night’s sleep before your interview.
