Dressing Codes: Pave Your Way To SuccessDoing the first steps in your career (and especially the first interview) is one of the most exciting moments in your life.

The success of your job interview depends much on the first impression, which is mainly achieved by your external appearance. Your attire and your appearance will reveal much about your character.

The right interview clothing and competent care of your appearance can indeed have a deep psychological influence on the interviewer, create a positive image in his consciousness and guarantee the success of you first steps in your career.

Here are some basic dress codes with the help of which you will have a great opportunity to easily pave your way to success:

  • Simplicity. “In character, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity.”–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Avoid strong perfumes, heavy make-up, luxurious jewelry and outstanding clothes.
  • Neatness. Clean and ironed clothes, combed hair and clean shoes–all these are very important for successful first impression.
  • Modern. Don’t be too conservative, avoid the “black and white” pattern, it will make the atmosphere too formal.
  • Colors. Be very careful in choosing colors. Light tins of colors like white, gray, pink and blue are surely the best, as they symbolize honesty, confidence and loyalty. But be careful–some color combinations may have the opposite effect and result in misunderstanding (for instance, the combination of blue and yellow causes aggression). Brown and beige are also a good choice for job interviews, they symbolize tranquility, stability and trust.

These tips for choosing the right interview clothing are surely worth taking into consideration, but choose clothing in which you feel comfortable and confident.

And in the end–be yourself, relax and don’t forget to smile. This is a minor but an important factor–just like salt in a meal.
